Return to the world.

Nursing school is the latest step in my life. This has meant that I have disappeared from the blog world while I adjusted to being a student again.
I have still been quilting, knitting, exercising and living but not to the extent that I did previously.

It is February 2015, I am again participating in Eva Paige Designs DaGMT challenge and this year I am on track.

These three pictures  to show you what has been keeping me busy in the quilt studio.

This is the current sweater that I am working on for myself. I do have a sweater in the works for my sister but no pictures yet.

Update on DAGMT - day 3 to 5

Here I sit after a snow day and have noticed that I missed sewing on Monday and Tuesday so I played catch up today. Over two hours in the studio and I made progress. The Quilters by the Sea challenge is all cut out and I finished sewing one side of the blocks today.

I have been working per diem so I guess that the wallet will be happy but it does cut into the sewing time. Tomorrow is the guild meeting so it is off to Portsmouth, RI in the evening and I hope to be back in the studio in the morning.

Until next time ---

DAGMT day 2

Today was the day of days, I went into my studio and I came out feeling like I accomplished something. OK, really it was gathering two new projects together and continuing to work on more pieced hexies.
Here is the first project that I pulled the fabrics together. Dublin is the quilt pattern and I finally have found something to use my Snowman Gathering fabric by Moda.

This is an update on my pieced hexies project. Strips sewn and than cut to be basted tonight while I watch Downtown.
These fabrics have all been ironed and are waiting to be subcut for a guild challenge - so from here on in, you may hear about this project but no finished picture until after the guild reveal in June. I am having fun so far and it is only the 2nd.

By the way, I am a true northerner - it is always 6 more weeks of winter - just look at a calender.

DAGMT - day 1

DAGMT - day 1

Lots and lots of hexis. I have gotten my travel kit ready so that the hands will be busy during several upcoming meetings and events. This is my self imposed diet, if I am hand piecing I can not be eating. Today I just basted solid hexis but hope to have some pieced hexies very soon. Pictures will follow as soon as I find my camera.

Greetings - back from the abyss. OK it really isn't that bad. I am still unemployed but I am looking at new opportunities to grow (this means back to school for me) and get back to life. My quilting has moved to a really nice studio space and I plan to spend at least 20 min in the studio for the month of Feb. in the DAGMT challenge from Eva Paige Designs. I will try to be more accountable and add pictures as I go along. More later...

Ok after a lot of hassle, here is the next installment of my fabric and stitches blog. As many of you know, I am currently unemployed but I am very actively looking for a job because all of this 'free' time is going to be the death of me.

The above picture is of me having a moment of pure bliss at the Bonnie Hunter, Midnight Flight class that my quilt guild held in New Hampshire. I am not sure how I made it through the day but I did and even completed one quarter of one block -there are 36 or so in the top. Yes, I have a long way to go but I did learn where the 1/4 inch is on my machine, how to chain piece and also stack and cut four patches. I learned alot.

Now I know there is an alteration to this block but it is mine and I am keeping it. I will dare anyone to find it when the quilt top is done.

This is the first of several cot quilts hat I have made. Most of my quilts that I have made to date have been for other people. Now that I am participating in DaGMT, I have deciding that I will make a quilt for me and me only. I have chosen the 'No Diamonds in the Sky' by Calico Carriage Quilt Designs. The colors that I have chosen are aqua, tan and off white background.

I have to go start the sewing machine and hope to post more pictures soon now that I know how.
